AITUC DELEGATION CALLS ON THE PALESTINIAN AMBASSADOR IN DELHI AND HANDS OVER A STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE
25.10.2023
To
Comrade Adnan Mohammad Jaber Haija
Ambassador,
Embassy of the State of Palestine,
New Delhi.
Dear Comrade,
AITUC stands in strong solidarity with the Palestinians
Condemns Israel’s apartheid against Palestinians, crimes against humanity
Urges urgent action of UN to restore peace, protect Palestine and their rights to statehood
All India Trade Union Congress, the 104 year old Central Trade Union in India with a membership of over 12 million workers sends its most impassioned message of solidarity with the people of Palestine. We are with you in this hour of crisis. We vehemently condemn the inhuman genocide perpetrated on the people of Palestine. We very strongly condemn the ominous coalition of the imperialist countries that stand in support of Israel.
Israel’s bombing of Gaza is a genocide. It is a blatant crime against humanity. It is an international crime with the specific intent to annihilate the Palestinians in their own land. Israel has been perpetrating this crime of persecution and genocide since the mass killings in 1948 and displacement of Palestinians to decades of military occupation. The insidious undermining of the legal regime governing Palestinians, repeated military assaults on Gaza, illegal occupation of Palestine and the official Israeli statements expressly favoring the elimination of Palestinians have all been in flagrant violation of international laws.
The official orders of Israeli military to the Palestinians to evacuate the Northern and Central Gaza reverberate as echoes of 1948, the Nakba, the catastrophe that killed more than 15 thousand Palestinians and decimated them. Pounding of the defenseless civilians, cutting off electricity, denying food and water and above all bombing the hospitals is a collective brutality carried out by the Israeli nation state. This is barbaric terrorism. The reckless, unlawful and inhuman assault of Israel calls for international condemnation. Working class across the world under the banner of World Federation of Trade Unions stands in impeccable solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The savage barbarity is sending shock waves across the globe. Empathetic justice should prevail. This crime against humanity has to end. Palestinians have an undisputed right on their land. AITUC stands firm on its position of an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital with the defined borders of 1967. This cannot be denied to Palestinians.
AITUC is committed to voice its concern to all those involved and concerned to call for an end to the apartheid on Palestine. The invasion of Gaza should end to restore peace and United Nations should take a determined step to reaffirm the inalienable rights of the people of Palestine to self determination, national independence and sovereignty.
Comradely Yours,
AMARJEET KAUR
General Secretary
For The National Secretariat of AITUC
As bombing of Gaza by Israel continues for the second week without any pause, the people across Europe stepped up their solidarity initiatives with the people of Palestine and condemned the European states’ support of the war crimes committed by the apartheid regime in Israel
On October 22, a massive rally of around 30,000 people in solidarity with Palestine was held in the French capital, Paris. The mobilization was organized by a coalition of progressive activists calling for an “immediate ceasefire” and an end to the “massacre in Gaza.”
